I’m an ancient D&D nerd hailing from the dawn of home computer games and a queer, trans woman. I hope to make design more inclusive, especially for fellow trans folks.
I started doing games research when it was a nascent field, helping make it what it is today. I also brought disaster response into human-computer interaction. You can learn more on my Projects Page and my Google Scholar.
Professionally, I am an Associate Professor of Human-Centred Computing at Monash University in the Exertion Games Lab, as well as a Science and Technology Australia Superstar of STEM. I helped establish and run the Trans Name Change Policy Working Group. I am a lifetime member of the ACM. I was previously an Associate Professor of Computer Science at New Mexico State University and my Ph.D. is from Texas A&M University in the Interface Ecology Lab. In the USA, I attracted over 1.5 million USD, including an NSF CAREER grant.
